Georgia Peaches

Of all the people that I was excited for Lorelei to meet, my Nana and Poppa make the top of the list. So, last weekend missy prissy and I loaded up and flew to Atlanta. I was born in Atlanta, so it is always fun to spend a little time in the great state of Georgia. Anyways, this was Lorelei's second trip via flying and I had flown one flight with her before. HOWEVER, this flight to Atlanta was very challenging. L has started teething so she was so cranky for both flights on the way to Georgia. I should mention however, she she slept both of the flights home so it was much better. Sice you may know that Lorelei does not leave the house without a bow, naturally she wore a big bow on the plane. Well, the man next to me seriously asked me, "It's a girl right?" Well, incase the big bow, pink toys in the seatpocket, and pink blanket did not give it away...YES! DUH! Lorelei even LOOKS like a girl! She isn't one of those "not so sure what you are" kindof babies. So yes, my dear seatmate, missy prissy is 100% girl!

Under Construction

Dear Little Baby

Dear Lorelei,
4 months! You are getting so big!! In the past month, we celebrated our first Christmas with you! We spent Christmas at your Mimi and Gdaddy's house. You got lots of wonderful presents-clothes, Sophie the Giraffe, jewelry from your great Nana and Poppa, a silver spoon with your name engraved on it, a play mat, balls, blocks, Follow Me Fiona dog, sign language dvds, books, cute socks, bows, and much more! It was so much fun to spend Christmas with you, even though you slept most of Christmas morning. I am already looking forward to Christmas next year when you are ONE! You were also Baptized this past month. You looked beautiful. You wore the special Baptism dress & bonnet that all the girls in the family have worn. You also wore a pretty cross necklace. Your Godmothers, Natalie and Melanie, gave you a beautiful silver baby bracelet with your name engraved on it. You also went to the lake this month and spent time with your Nana, Grandpa, Aunt Natalie, and Aunt Melanie. You had your last day at daycare this month too!! I couldn't have been happier. Although the Christmas tree that you painted green and the photo ornament that you made at daycare are too precious. Now I am staying at home with you each day and love spending our days together. You are sleeping a little better at night, although you have been crying for 1-1.5 hours each night when we put you in your crib. Whenever we come in to check on you every 15 minutes or so, you make your saddest faces and it breaks my heart to have to leave you in there screaming. But once you fall asleep, you have been doing much better about not waking up as often in the middle of the night. One time, your Daddy was at work all day and came home right after I had put you in your crib. You were screaming and he really wanted to see you. He went in to check on you and said that you were smiling so big at him that he couldn't even give you your pacifier!! You love to see your Daddy after he has been at work! You also love playing on your play mat, talking, sitting in your Bumbo chair, reading books, and singing. This past month you laughed for the first time and you rolled over from tummy to back! I was so proud of you! You are eating about 5-6 times a day and we put rice cereal in your night bottle. I can't wait to start making baby food for you in the upcoming months!! Little angel, everyone tells us what a happy baby you are. They are right! I hope that as you grow you continue to smile often and are a happy little girl. We are so lucky to have you little missy prissy!

One Year Ago

One year ago today was one of the three happiest days of our lives. (The other two days being our wedding and L's birthday!) We found out we were having our sweet baby!! Here is a picture of the baby rattle cookie that I had decorated for Rob to share the exciting news!

Tiny Treasures...Tuesday?

Ok I know it is Monday, but Tiny Treasures Tuesday HAS to happen today. Showing off this cuteness cannot wait another day!!

Christmas & An Update

We left for Dallas (aka home) on the 23rd and went to the Gaylord Texan (just as amazing as we remembered it to be) to celebrate our anniversary. Mimi and Gdaddy watched Lorelei. It was our first night away from her and we missed her. We went to Cheesecake Factory (YUM!) and walked around the Gaylord, which is beautiful at Christmas time. The next morning we went out to breakfast and went back to Rob's Moms house because we were so anxious to see our little girl! It was nice to get away since we don't leave her with anyone in Lubbock, but felt weird at the same time.

Lorelei spent most of Christmas morning sleeping! As to be expected, but still a bit disappointing. She got tons of great gifts including the Sophie the Giraffe teether, a bracelet and silver spoon with her name on it from her great Nana and Poppa, books, a playmat, jumperoo, clothes, toys, blankets, a hairbow, Signing Time DVDS (we are about to start baby American Sign Language), finger puppets, and Follow Me Fiona. Follow Me Fiona cracks me up. It is this very cute pink dog that barks and walks and when your baby starts crawling, the idea is that they follow Fiona on the ground. When we got back to LBK and were unpacking her things, Rob and I no longer had to wonder where little missy was spoiled...it was clear that yes, she is and yes, I am fine with it :)

The day after Christmas we went to church and dinner with my family, who flew in from Chicago. It was Lorelei's first trip to the country club, which was neat because we had our wedding reception there and we saw the wedding reception planner! Lorelei was also Baptized over the weekend! She wore the same beautiful dress that I wore, my sisters wore, and my cousins wore. It has our names embroidered on the slip, so now we need Lorelei's name on the dress! Lorelei was baptized at All Saints, which is where Rob and I were married. After the Baptism, L and I went to the lake with my family to spend some time relaxing. I have never heard her laugh so much as when she laughs at her Grandpa! I got it videoed on our new Flip video camera so hopefully I can figure out how to post the video to the blog.

Back in LBK and finally unpacked. Now I am starting to freak out about getting the house more organized and de-cluttered before getting it on the market. Baby items have consumed our house and I have no idea how I will hide them when people come to view our house!

Rob has interview this week for CRNA school. We are ready to get the interview done with! While he is a little nervous, we know that God has a plan and whatever that may be, we will soon find out! If Rob does not get into school, it will give us another year of working and getting settled in the DFW area, which would be awesome. If he does get into school, it will be his dream come true and we will be living off a teacher salary next year :)

2009-The Year of Lorelei

To celebrate New Years Eve (which we never really care about anyways!) Rob and I watched a show on VH1 called "2009-That really happened?!" Anything that happened in August/September or later I pretty much had no clue about because I had just had Lorelei, and was a little too busy for celebrity world & news. So, according to VH1 some of the top 2009 stories were:

-2009 is apparently the year of Lady Gaga. I couldn't really tell you why, but I think she is piece of work! What an interesting human. Even if she wears a solar system-like helmet, dresses head to toe in 3-d Kermit the frogs, or in bubble wrap...her songs are pretty catchy.
-Captain Sully landed a plane of 200 something people in the Hudson River and everyone lives. Sully becomes an American Hero.
-The Octomom. That's right...8 babies at once when she already had 6 at home. Unemployed? Check. Single? Check. On welfare? Check. Enough said about her.
-Jon & Kate Plus 8 tv show ends. Jon & Kate drama allll year long.
-Obama's first year in office. In order to prevent my blog from taking a drastic turn for the worse, I will resist commenting.
-Michael Jackson dies. Another very interesting "human." (Human being the debatable word here.) I thought people would never get over this one.

Notice that only one of these things is positive? Captain Sully safely landing the plane is the only positive thing I can recall out of the whole episode last night. The rest of the show was filled with biggest celeb breakups, who has gained/lost the most weight in Hollywood, and more stories that I don't care about. People seem to have a way of consuming themselves with all of this celebrity junk and negative stories. Really, none of this is important. I am not saying the show last night wasn't a little entertaining to look back at the year and see everything I missed, but some people need to spend more time on more important, positive, and less worldly things.

The most of important thing of OUR year was our precious angel Lorelei! From finding out we were expecting a baby, to the day we learned it was a girl, to the first doctor's appointment, first baby movement, to her birthday...all of it was amazing and very important. I call 2009 the year of Lorelei. We spent all year preparing for her and she is finally here!! So here's to our precious gift from God, Lorelei Hope.
